ArMA Welcomes New CEO Douglas Laher

The new Chief Executive Officer of the Arizona Medical Association, Phoenix, is Douglas Laher, MBA, CAE, CMP.

Laher brings extensive experience in healthcare, association management, and nonprofit leadership.  Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer for the American Association for Respiratory Care, Dallas, serving more than 40,000 healthcare professionals. Earlier in his career, Laher practiced as a clinically trained respiratory therapist and hospital administrator at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic.

A Certified Association Executive (CAE), Laher was named a Fellow by the American Association for Respiratory Care.

Laher will focus on strategically expanding ArMA’s impact by enhancing physician programs, further strengthening the organization’s award-winning advocacy efforts, and fostering a thriving, connected physician community.

The national search for ArMA’s new CEO was led by ArMA’s Board of Directors in partnership with Tuft President Jill M. Christie.

The Arizona Medical Association has been advocating for physicians and their patients since it was established in 1892. ArMA’s diverse membership includes allopathic and osteopathic physicians of all specialties and from all types of practice settings.
