The Board of Certification, Inc., (BOC) for the Athletic Trainer, based in Omaha, Nebraska, has opened a search for a new Chief Executive Officer to lead this professional credentialing organization.
The BOC establishes both the standard for the practice of athletic training and the continuing education requirements for BOC Certified Athletic Trainers (ATs). The BOC also works with state regulatory agencies to provide credential information, professional conduct guidelines, and regulatory standards on certification issues.
The total number of Certified Athletic Trainers is more than 53,000 worldwide. Athletic training is recognized as a healthcare profession by the American Medical Association (AMA) and by federal agencies, including the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The BOC has the only accredited certification program for ATs in the United States and has mutual recognition agreements with the Canadian Athletic Therapy Association and Athletic Rehabilitation Therapy Ireland.
