Executive Director, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons
The American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), Rosemont, Ill., has been led by Executive Director Michael J. Zarski, JD, since 2013.
Established in 1991 and now serving more than 3,800 members, the mission of AAHKS is to advance hip and knee patient care through education, advocacy, and research. Zarski and his team provide an array of services to members and the subspecialty of arthroplasty. For instance, the AAHKS Annual Meeting addresses a broad array of scientific topics such as implant design, outcomes, surgical techniques, and the impact of socioeconomic issues affecting the specialty.
Prior to joining AAHKS, Zarski had a distinguished career with medical associations, including serving as Executive Director of the American Osteopathic Information Association and Senior Legislative Counsel for the American Medical Association. He also served as an Assistant Regional Attorney in Chicago for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
