President & CEO, International Warehouse Logistics Association
Steve DeHaan became the President and CEO of the International Warehouse Logistics Association (IWLA) in 2013. He is the former Executive Vice President and CEO of the National Home Furnishings Association.
Under DeHaan’s leadership, the IWLA has been transformed: Revenue is up to $3.5M, with $2M set aside for investments. Membership has grown from 337 to 360. Convention attendance has increased from 275 to 450, with convention revenues now at $1.1M from $450K. Education attendance is up from 40 student per class to 75, and all classes were updated. DeHaan created the association’s first business plan and strategic direction, and halted staff turnover.
“We took a business, strategic, and futuristic approach to running the association and measuring customer satisfaction. We have gone from 3.5 to a 9 on a 10-point scale, says DeHaan. “The staff and I love working with our members, leadership, fellow staff, and vendors of the IWLA. It shows!”
ABOUT TUFT: “Jill Christie was a phenomenal recruiter. She stayed in touch and worked with the Search Committee and with me to get all the information and questions answered. She was with us every step of the way. The Search Committee felt like they got the process, people, and answers they needed. Jill stayed in touch with me in my first year and every year since then. She is very professional.
“Tuft did an excellent job in connecting me with the right group. It was like everybody knew it was right from the first interview on. The IWLA Search Committee liked my honesty and frankness. IWLA and I are extremely thankful to Tuft & Associates.”
