Eileen M. Murray has more than 30 years’ experience in executive roles with medical, scientific, and healthcare-related professional societies with expertise in organizational transitions, revenue diversification, cultivating alliances and partnerships, building and leading diverse high-performance teams, and increasing the visibility and credibility of organizations.
EXECUTIVE CAREER
Eileen served most recently as the CEO of the American Epilepsy Society (AES), retiring after 11 years with the Society. During her tenure, AES net assets tripled, membership and annual meeting attendance increased by 30%, and industry influence was enhanced. She was the recipient of the Society’s 2024 Extraordinary Contributions to the Field of Epilepsy Award. Eileen also served as Assistant Executive Director and Acting Executive Director at the American Academy of Dermatology, VP and Executive Director of the American Health Information Management Association Foundation, and Development Officer at the American Society of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons.
ASSOCIATION LEADERSHIP
An active volunteer and speaker in the association community, Eileen has served in leadership roles with the Association Forum of Chicago (including chair of the Women’s Leadership Forum and Forum Forward Annual Conference), American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), American Association of Medical Society Executives (AAMSE), Council of Engineering and Scientific Societies (CESSE), and on the CEO Council of the Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS).
EDUCATION
Eileen holds a Master in Management (MiM) degree with a concentration in Public and Nonprofit Management and Marketing from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. She received her BA in Art, English, and Ancient Near Eastern Studies from Upsala College, NJ. Eileen is also a Certified Association Executive (CAE) and has completed certificates in diversity and inclusion, and cultural competency in associations.
